Thai class

Cooking class

Thai.

Bright, layered, spicy. Thai chicken satay you skewer yourself, red curry with coconut milk and aubergine, and pineapple rice with sweet coconut sauce.

What is a Thai cooking class at Julia’s?

A Thai cooking class at Julia’s Cooking Studio is three hours of cooking, in which you make chicken satay with peanut sauce, a red curry with coconut milk and fresh vegetables, and pineapple rice with sweet coconut sauce.

Thai cooking is a matter of adjusting. Sweet, sour, salt and heat have to balance, and that balance is not something you measure out.

You taste, you add something, you taste again.

We make the curry paste ourselves, because that is the difference with a jar from the shop. While the satay smokes above the grill and starts to smell of lemongrass, the wok is already waiting.

Between courses you sit at the table and eat what has just come off the heat. The recipes come home with you, and by then the balance is in your head.

What you make

Three hours, and this is what’s on your plate.

Thai chicken satay

Grilled chicken skewers with a proper peanut sauce. Bright, nutty, addictive.

Red curry with coconut milk and aubergine

Fresh curry paste, silky coconut, that slow-building heat.

Pineapple rice with sweet coconut sauce

Sweet-salty, jasmine-fragrant, the kind of side that ends up being the star.
